Responsible AI and safeguarding

People make the decisions. Equiva helps them notice.

Equiva spots possible signs that someone may need support. It does not diagnose, and nothing it suggests is acted on without a trained member of staff.

Human review of every suggestion

Every AI suggestion is reviewed by trained staff, who agree it, set it aside for now, or refer it on. Suggestions only appear after enough activity, and English as an additional language alone is never a sign.

No diagnostic labels

Learners and employers never see diagnostic labels. When staff agree a suggestion, the learner is offered a plain-language idea they can accept, change or ignore.

Consent the learner controls

A learner’s adjustments profile is private until they share it with a named person. They can stop sharing at any time, and every share and withdrawal is logged.

Data kept separate between institutions

Each organisation’s learners, staff, courses, evidence and support records are separated in the database and in file storage. Equiva staff see organisation-level figures, not learners’ records.

Audit logs

Every AI suggestion, the decision made on it, and every step of assessment and quality assurance are recorded automatically. These records can't be edited or deleted by anyone using the platform.

Private support notes

Draft support plans and private notes stay with the SENCo or inclusion team until they are agreed with the learner.
